July 2022 First Degree Ceremony

Friday 22nd July 2022 saw the initiation of a new member to the Vale of Brislington Lodge.

The new member marked the night as ‘a night to never forget’, enjoying a busy festive board after the ceremony as seen above.

Almost every ceremonial ‘office’ in the Vale leading up to the roles of ruler of the lodge (Worshipful Master) is now filled with a “Light Blue” Mason, those who are yet to take up office as ruler of the lodge. This means newer members of the Vale of Brislington putting themselves forward to memorise pieces of the ceremony and delivering this to not only the membership, but also visitors from various lodges around Somerset and Bristol. This included members of the Provincial team from Province of Somerset Freemasonry, such as the Assistant Ruler of the Province, Anthony Guthrie.

Gary Morris, a member of the Vale of Brislington, marked the ceremony and festive board saying ‘THIS is the future of our lodge’, as the Vale makes a push for new members and welcomes visitors from all walks of life and Freemasonry. Following this, Rob Hughes from the Somerset Freemasons Provincial team, remarked ‘what a great ceremony has been performed’, before highlighting the importance of friendship in Freemasonry, ‘you’ll make friendships for life’.

A total of £285 was raised for the Labrador Retriever Rescue Southern England charity from the raffle, and £56.32 from the alms collected.
